Mehmet Ali Işık, Head of the Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters’ Association and Sustainability and Organic Products Coordinator of the Aegean Exporters’ Association, announced that Japan imports 80 billion dollars worth of food products annually.

Pointing out that the TURQUALITY Project, Turkish Tastes, successfully implemented in the US market by six food associations under the umbrella of the Aegean Exporters’ Associations, is entering its sixth year, he said, “One of the underlying factors in the success of the Turkish Tastes Project has been the joint projects we have conducted with US chefs and universities. We are building the TURQUALITY Project, which we will also be implementing in the Japanese market, on solid ground.”
“Due to the rise in single-person living and working couples in Japan, there is a shift towards ready-made meals. This, in turn, is increasing demand for processed and frozen vegetables,” he noted.
“Türkiye has strong producers in this area. Our dried fruit sector led exports from the Aegean Region to Japan with a performance of 42 million dollars in 2024. Our goal is to ramp up dried fruit exports to Japan to 100 million dollars in the medium term,” he added…
