Licensed storage capacity reaches 13.8 million tonnes, Turkish Mercantile Exchange volume reaches 316 billion lira!

Trade Minister Ömer Bolat stated that Türkiye has reached a licensed storage capacity of 13.8 million tonnes, saying, “Currently, the trading volume of the Türkish Mercantile Exchange (TMEX) has reached 316 billion lira.”

Minister Bolat highlighted that the most important feature of TME is to ensure that products can be stored hygienically and under controlled conditions, to enable their supply to the market as needed and to serve production planning through the exchange.

‘Our target is 20 million tonnes of licensed storage capacity’

Pointing out that significant developments in licensed warehousing have taken place, Bolat said, “We have reached a licensed storage capacity of 13.8 million tonnes. There are 257 licensed warehouse operations in 53 provinces. These have 349 warehouses. Products such as grains, legumes, oilseeds, cotton, walnuts, olives, dried apricots and Antep pistachios are primarily stored here. Our goal is to reach 20 million tonnes.”

“After licensed storage facilities were established, electronic warehouse receipts (EWR) representing these products began trading on the Turkish Mercantile Exchange. Currently, the trading volume of TMEX has reached 316 billion lira. The most important feature of this exchange is to ensure that products are stored in a hygienic and controlled manner, to enable their supply to the market as needed and to serve production planning through the exchange,” Bolat added…
