Ali Rıza Türker, Chairman of the Board of Tariş Agricultural Sales Cooperatives Union, in his written statement, thanked President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli on behalf of Tariş stakeholders and producers owing to TMO’s (Turkish Grain Board) purchasing policies regarding raisin markets.

Indicating that hundreds of thousands of families are occupied with grape production in their region, Türker said, “President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s statement that TMO would purchase grapes is welcome in our region.”

Ali Rıza Türker pointed out that producers supplied more products to the market than the amount of demand in order to pay their debts, especially during the harvest period, which caused the market prices to decrease excessively and price instability.

Türker stated that falling of prices could be prevented by TMO if entered the market and purchaing grapes during the harvest period in particular.

Explaining that Turkey has a 50 percent share in the world raisins trade volume and they are a determinant factor in the formation of world prices, Türker added, “But thanks to TMO, the export income of our country will increase and the producer’s labour will be rewarded.”

“I do wish the grape producers of our region will have a rich and fertile season,” Türker concluded…
