Lely wins Boerenbusiness’s 2021 Agribusiness Award with the Lely Sphere.
According to Independent Jury President Aalt Dijkhuizen, the Lely Sphere is “an especially effective solution to today’s complex nitrogen problem”.
Lely professionals Romy van Aalst and Rik Janssen received the award from Aalt Dijkhuizen, President of the Jury for the Agribusiness Award, during a live broadcast on Boerenbusiness.nl on Thursday, November 25th. In addition to the prize, the winners also received a relevant media package worth €6,500 and a follow-up course offered by ABN Amro.
Due to the corona measures, the ceremony took place online. Boerenbusiness annually awards innovations that offer a clear added value for the profitability of an agriculture & livestock business. “Lely Sphere certainly has that potential,” the jury says in its rreport: “This innovation can not only improve the environmental performance of dairy farms, but also enable these farmers to retain their ‘production licenses’ and improve their business returns.”
Circular solution…
“The Lely Sphere enables manure and urine to be separated at source on dairy farms. Sphere makes a small change to the grid floor of dairy farms, extracting air from the manure pit, converting the ammonia in the drawn air into liquid manure through a filter. Farmers can use this new converted liquid fertilizer on their land, thus saving on the purchase of fertilizers. In doing so, mineral cycles are produced within the farm itself, making the process a circular solution,” the company explains…
