Last year, 105 agricultural organizations received “First-Degree Organization Certificates”

Of the 12,130 agricultural organizations authorized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, 105 were granted “first-degree organization certificates” last year.

According to a compilation by an Anadolu Agency (AA) reporter from the General Directorate of Agricultural Reform’s Statistical Bulletin, the Ministry has authorized the establishment of 6,364 agricultural development cooperatives, 2,446 irrigation cooperatives, 601 aquaculture cooperatives and 31 sugar beet growers’ cooperatives. The total number of members in these 9,442 cooperatives is recorded as 2,210,710.

In addition to 111 cooperative regional unions operating in designated regions in the areas of livestock, agriculture, forestry, tea, irrigation, and aquaculture, the Sugar Beet Growers’ Cooperatives Union (PANKOBİRLİK) operates.

The number of registered cooperatives has reached 5,236. The 1,623 agricultural credit cooperatives currently operate and have 851,621 members.

A total of 789 agricultural producer unions operate, including 203 in the plant products group, 529 in the animal products group, 34 in the aquaculture group and 23 in the organic products group. Their membership totals 249,517.

Regarding the vertical organization of agricultural producer unions established by product and product group, there are nine producer central unions for milk, red meat, poultry, eggs, honey, fruit, field crops, aquaculture and marine hunting.

The total number of producer unions affiliated with these producer central unions is 533 and the total number of members in these unions is 206,733.

Breeders have formed unions for animals ranging from cattle and sheep to chickens and bees…

There are five types of unions: the Cattle Breeders’ Union, the Sheep and Goat Breeders’ Union, the Buffalo Breeders’ Union, the Chicken Breeders’ Union and the Beekeepers’ Union. There are also 276 provincial unions of breeding livestock breeders. The membership of these unions is estimated at 572,380. Four of the breeding unions have completed their vertical organization and formed a central union.

There are 18 regional unions of agricultural credit cooperatives in the designated regions, and 8 cooperative central unions at the national level.

Furthermore, there are 760 agricultural chambers, which are farmers’ professional organizations and the union of agricultural chambers to which all of these are members, with 5,225,151 farmers registered as members.

Of the 12,130 agricultural organizations across Türkiye 105 received first-degree organization certification last year, including those in Ankara, Adana, Antalya, Konya and Izmir.

Privileges granted in agricultural support…

Agricultural organizations are rated based on criteria determined by the Ministry.

A regulation published in the Official Gazette includes agricultural cooperatives, agricultural producer associations, and breeding breeder associations.

Accordingly, applicants who score 60 or higher are eligible for a “first-degree agricultural organization certification.”

Organizations holding this certification can benefit from privileges in agricultural support, interest rate reductions, invitations to events, and participation in decision-making processes…
