M. Kayhan Yıldırım, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Seed Union (TÜRKTOB) and Kasım Kılıç, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, visited Professor Dr. Zümrüt Begüm Ögel, Chairwoman of the Presidential Council for Agriculture and Food Policies, to discuss the current state of the seed industry and its priority needs.

During the meeting, it was noted that seed production is one of the areas that has shown the most significant development in the agricultural sector over the past twenty years. Stating that the strengthening of Türkiye’s domestic and national seed production infrastructure and the level achieved in plant breeding will further increase the strategic importance of the sector, Kayhan Yıldırım said, “I would like to emphasize that the support provided by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry to the seed industry is one of the most important factors in the sector’s development.”

“As the management of the Turkish Seed Association, we conveyed the sector’s current status and future vision to the Office of the President through a comprehensive presentation that would provide significant motivation for producers, breeders and industrialists,” Yıldırım noted.
