A “China (Guangzhou) Trade Delegation” event was held in Guangzhou from September 2 to 6, 2026, with the aim of boosting Türkiye’s food exports to the People’s Republic of China and strengthening the visibility of Turkish food products in China—one of the world’s largest markets.

During the trade delegation—organized by the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly (TİM) and the Aegean Exporters’ Associations (EİB) General Secretariat under the coordination of the Ministry of Trade—12 Turkish companies operating in various sub-sectors of the food industry met with Chinese importers.
Mehmet Kadri Gündeş, Vice Chairman of the Board of the Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters’ Association, represented the Aegean Exporters’ Associations.
60 Chinese buyers, over 160 B2B meetings…
Highlighting the immense potential China holds for Turkish food exporters due to its large population, growing middle class and increasing interest in imported food products, Mehmet Kadri Gündeş, Vice Chairman of the Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters’ Association, stated that Türkiye possesses a robust agricultural production infrastructure across a wide range of products. “We have numerous items to offer Chinese consumers, spanning from olives and olive oil to dried fruits, seafood, dairy products, grains, pulses and fresh fruits and vegetables.”
Pointing out that Türkiye’s food exports to China stood at 218 million dollars in 2025, he noted, “In the January–August period of 2026, exports rose by 22 percent, reaching 177 million dollars. However, considering the sheer size of the Chinese market, we have the potential to far exceed these current figures. We conducted an intensive schedule of meetings where our companies could directly present their products to importers, distributors and buyers.”
“The fact that over 160 business meetings took place with nearly 60 Chinese buyers is a significant indicator of the interest shown in our delegation. We hope to see these contacts increase in the period ahead,” he added…
