In Antalya, fields turn into carpet fields in the scorching summer heat…

Hand-woven carpets sterilised under the hot sun in the Döşemealtı district of Antalya province are exported to many countries. Antique carpets with collection value can fetch up to 8,000 dollars.

Carpets collected from all over Türkiye, laid out in the sun to fade to pale and pastel tones, are exported to many countries, primarily the United States and European countries. Rare carpets woven 100 years ago that hold collection value can fetch up to 8,000 dollars.

During the summer months, the fields in the Döşemealtı district of Antalya are transformed into fields reminiscent of paintings, with hand-woven carpets brought from all over the country spread out across them. The carpets are left to dry in the high temperatures of the sun, both to eliminate bacteria and to restore their natural colours. Carpets made with organic dyes and free of synthetic materials are prepared for export through this process. The sun-dried carpets are shipped to various parts of the world, primarily the United States and European countries. Among them, some antique carpets woven over 100 years ago are sold to collectors for up to 8,000 dollars…
