GERMANY AND IRAQ TAKE THE LEAD IN TURKEY’S AGRICULTURAL EXPORTS…

Last month, Germany and Iraq took the lead in Turkey’s agricultural exports.

According to the information compiled from the data of the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly (TIM), Turkey’s exports increased by 109 percent last month compared to the same period of 2020 and reached 18 billion 766 million dollars. Agricultural exports increased by 33.9 percent in April compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 2 billion 360 thousand dollars. The share of the agricultural sector in total exports was 12.6 percent.

Last month, the highest demand for sectors within agriculture came from Germany and Iraq. Hazelnuts and products, dried fruits and products, fruit and vegetable products, olive and olive oil sectors export the most to Germany, while cereals, pulses, oil seeds and products, furniture paper and forest products, aquaculture and animal products sectors export the most to Iraq.

In April, hazelnuts and their products exported 39 million 548 thousand dollars, dried fruits and products worth 18 million 464 thousand dollars, fruit and vegetable products 21 million 97 thousand dollars, olive and olive oil sector 4 million 426 thousand dollars. As for Iraq, cereals, pulses, oil seeds and products were sold for 121 million 577 thousand dollars, furniture paper and forestry products for 82 million 332 thousand dollars, aquaculture and animal products for 52 million 493 thousand dollars.

THE GREATEST DEMAND FOR ORNAMENTAL PLANTS AND PRODUCTS COMES FROM THE NETHERLANDS

In April, the highest demand came from the Netherlands for ornamental plants and products, Iran for the tobacco sector and the Russian Federation for fresh fruits and vegetables.

Ornamental plants and products exported 5 million 432 thousand dollars to the Netherlands, tobacco sector 5 million 786 thousand dollars to Iran, fresh fruit and vegetables to the Russian Federation 57 million 527 thousand dollars. In the sectors of agriculture, the highest export in April was made by cereals, pulses, oil seeds and products with 753 million 495 thousand dollars.

In addition furniture, paper and forestry products with 583 million 389 thousand dollars, aquaculture and animal products with 281 million 620 thousand dollars, fresh fruits and vegetables with 201 million 887 thousand dollars, hazelnuts and products with 166 million 313 thousand dollars, fruits and vegetables with 158 million 64 thousand dollars, dried fruits and products with 122 million 164 thousand dollars, tobacco with 52 million 929 thousand dollars, olive and olive oil with 24 million 949 thousand dollars, ornamental plants and products with 15 million 419 thousand dollars followed this sector.

ORNAMENTAL PLANTS AND PRODUCTS REACHED THE MOST EXPORT INCREASE

The ornamental plants and products sector increased its exports with a maximum of 126.3 percent in the sectors within the agriculture. Following this sector, furniture paper and forestry products exports 71.5 percent, fresh fruits and vegetables 70.6 percent, aquaculture and animal products 54 percent, cereals pulses, oil seeds and products 26.9 percent, dried fruits and products 17 percent, fruit and vegetable products 10 percent, olive and olive oil rose by 7.1 percent. During this period, exports of hazelnuts and products decreased by 15.4 percent, while exports of the tobacco sector decreased by 0.9 percent as well.
