Aydın Commodity Exchange Chairman Fevzi Çondur, Assembly Chairman A. Bahri Erdel and Vice Chairman Cengiz Ülgen visited Mustafa Gümüş, General Director of Customs of the Ministry of Trade, in his office in Ankara.

During the visit, Fevzi Çondur emphasised that Türkiye is the world leader in dried fig exports and brought up some of the problems encountered in the export process. In particular, he stated that in case the exported dried figs return to the country for various reasons, the customs procedures at the first border entry point cause problems for exporters.
Çondur also requested that the returned products be taken to the warehouses in Aydın provinxe under the Customs Directorate at the first border entry point in order to prevent the exporters from experiencing victimisation. He pointed out that this arrangement will ensure that the products are kept in warehouses in Aydın region until the food safety controls are completed.
It was reported that the meeting was positive and evaluations were made to take into account the demands of the exporter members of the Aydın Commodity Exchange. At the end of the visit, the Aydın Commodity Exchange delegation thanked Mustafa Gümüş, General Manager of Customs, for his support in solving the problems experienced by exporters…
