The search for innovation in the olive and olive oil sector…
The ‘Innovative and Sustainable Clustering in the Olive Value Chain (OASIS) Project’, supported by the European Union, with Türkiye, Spain and Italy as stakeholders, aims to increase productivity in the olive and olive oil sector through innovative approaches in table olives and olive oil enterprises with pressing units. 50 olive and olive oil producer companies from Türkiye are expected to participate in the project.

Giving information about the objectives of the OASIS Project, Emre Uygun, Chair of the Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters’ Association, underlined that the main goal is to train SMEs operating in the olive and olive oil production sector in the Aegean Basin on sustainable practices, support technologies that will enhance raw material efficiency, and develop strategies that will build resilience against climate change and external factors.
A competitive marketplace to be created…
Pointing out that Türkiye ranked first in the world with a yield of 750 thousand tonnes in table olive production in the 2024/25 season and second in the world after Spain with a yield of 475 thousand tonnes in olive oil, Uygun said, “With the OASIS Project, it is aimed to strengthen the food supply chain, reduce production costs and create a competitive marketplace for both businesses and consumers by focusing on reducing food waste and optimising resource use throughout the production process of enterprises with pressing facilities in the table olive and olive oil sector.”
