Nurittin Karan, Chairman of the Giresun Chamber of Agriculture said that producers have the best fixation figures and the other ones made by out of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry regarding hazelnut yield estimates have lost their credibility.
Following the estimated hazelnut harvest of 2020, which was announced as 665 thousand tons by the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli, Giresun Agriculture Chamber President Nurittin Karan reacted to the Black Sea Hazelnut and Products Exporters’ Association, which predicted 670 thousand tons of crops.
Recalling that the harvest was determined by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in order to end the speculation on the harvest and to determine the hazelnut yield by one hand before each season, Karan stated, “Some segments are trying to look cute for the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli and make estimates close to the Ministry’s ones in order to create a special perception.”
Pointing out that hazelnut is as valuable as gold this year, Karan added, “No one should speculate that he can get the hazelnut from the producer cheaply.”
