The number of ovine and bovine animals reached to 73.7 million, according to TURKSTAT (Turkish Statistical Institute).
According to the data of TURKSTAT’s “Animal Production Statistics”, the number of cattle in the first half rose 4.2 percent to 18 million 615 thousand head, in the same period ovine number increased by 13.6 percent to 55 million 63 thousand head.
As of the end of June, the number of cattle among bovines increased by 4.2 percent compared to December last year and the number of buffaloes rose by 2.5 percent to 189 thousand.
As of the end of June, the number of sheep among ovines increased by 14.6 percent compared to December last year and the number of goats increased by 10.2 percent to 12 million 351 thousand.
According to the information given by TURKSTAT, data on the numbers of bovine, ovine and other animals was compiled directly through the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry’s (TOB) Statistical Data Network (İVA) system in district detail.
