Food exports to the United Kingdom will increase to 2 billion dollars

Aegean Exporters‘ Associations (EIB) Sustainability and Organic Products Coordinator Mehmet Ali Işık, Chair of Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters’ Association, stated that the delegation of the United Kingdom Ministry of Business and Trade asked the sectors one by one about their demands.

“As the Aegean Region, we are the leader in the export of agricultural products and organic products in Türkiye”

“Our sectors that we export the most to the United Kingdom from the Aegean are dried fruit, apparel, fresh fruit and vegetable products and aquaculture products. There has been a 70 percent spike in our trade in the last 10 years. The United Kingdom is by far our leading market in seedless raisins. Türkiye is among the most important suppliers of the UK. With the Development of International Competitiveness Project (UR-GE) supported by the Ministry of Trade, which we launched last year for the United Kingdom, we aim to bring together our exporters operating in the food sector, to adapt to new regulations and standards under the theme of sustainability in international markets and to improve their competitiveness,” he said.

“In the Turquality Project, which we will realise in the Fruit and Vegetable Products Sector, Turkish food products will be promoted to consumers and sector professionals in the United Kingdom. We anticipate that our exports will surge further with these contacts and the FTA. We aim to ramp up our food exports to the United Kingdom, which is 1 billion dollars in Türkiye in general, to 2 billion dollars in the coming period,” he added…
