Fresh figs, one of the important agricultural products of the Aegean, are exported to all over the world, especially to European countries such as Germany, England, the Netherlands and France.

The export of yellow fresh figs started on 31 July. Black figs, with a cut date of 6 August and an export date of 7 August, also took their place on the shelves.
Sharing the information that Türkiye earned 58 million dollars in foreign currency income from fresh fig exports in 2022, Hayrettin Uçak, Chairperson of the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association (EYMSİB), said: “In 2022, we exported 24 thousand 16 tonnes of fresh figs to approximately 60 countries. A large slice of 45 million dollars of our fresh fig exports was obtained from Bursa black figs. The export of yellow figs was 12 million dollars. In 2023, we aim to export 100 million dollars of fresh figs.”

“While Türkiye exported Bursa black fresh figs to 47 countries in 2022, Germany ranked first with a demand of 17.6 million dollars. Bursa black figs worth 4.2 million dollars were also exported to the Netherlands; in addition, Austria and the United Kingdom with 3.4 and 3.3 million dollars respectively,” he noted.

“While the Russian Federation ranked at the top with 4.1 million dollars in Custard fig (Sarılop) exports, 3.5 million dollars of this variety demand came from Germany. Hong Kong became the third country by importing 1 million dollars worth of Custard figs. The number of countries we have made the export of Custard figs was recorded as 40,” he added…
