Ferhat Gürüz was elected as the Chairman of the Board of Directors at the 2021 Ordinary General Assembly Meeting of the Mediterranean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association, which is affiliated to the Mediterranean Exporters’ Associations (AKİB).
“The Fruit and Vegetable Academy we will establish will shape the future of our industry”
As the leader of the fresh fruit and vegetable sector, Ferhat Gürüz explained the projects they plan to realize during the term of office of the new board of directors of the Mediterranean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association, which carries out coordinator and secretarial services in Turkiye and stated that they will ensure the establishment of a Fruit and Vegetable Academy by giving priority to university-industry cooperation.
Gürüz said, “I believe that the Fruit and Vegetable Academy, which will shape the future of our industry in a new range from production to harvest, from yellowing to packaging, from packaging types to marketing, from new varieties to trends, will bring our country to the highest levels in the world fruit and vegetable trade.”
Pointing out that they will further strengthen the common sense on the most appropriate methods of production, harvest and post-harvest processes, Gürüz added, “We will establish product-based committees and classify citrus, pomegranate and stone fruit and vegetable varieties.”
