Fisheries and animal products exporters are progressing step by step towards the 2026 sector target of 4.3 billion dollars for Türkiye in general and 2 billion dollars for the Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Association.
Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Association held the “Stars of Export Award Ceremony” for the export champions of 2024 at the 2024 financial general assembly meeting.
Bedri Girit, Chair of Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters Association, stated said that in 2024, 261 billion dollars of export performance was exhibited across Türkiye.
Pointing out that 36 billion dollars of this belongs to the agrifood sector, Girit said, “The export of our sector is 3 billion 863 million dollars. We had a very good performance especially in two items: In the fishery sector, we have exceeded the critical limit of 2 billion dollars last year. In the poultry sector, when we combine meat and eggs, there is an export of over 1 billion dollars. We also export approximately 400 million dollars worth of milk and 32 million dollars worth of honey. The average unit price of exports in our sector’s field of activity in the country is 3.15 dollars. However, the unit price of our Association is around 4.13 dollars. In other words, we are in a better position than Türkiye in general. In addition, 45 percent of Türkiye’s overall exports are made from the Aegean Exporters’ Associations. Sixty-eight percent of fishery exports are made from our region. But we need to make more sustainable and high unit price exports.”
