The olive and olive oil sector will join forces in the URGE Project…
The new UR-GE Project in the Turkish olive sector will be called ‘OlivetoLive’…
The Turkish olive oil sector, which has seen exports come to a standstill due to misguided decisions over the past three years, is seeking to halt this negative trend by coming together under the ‘OlivetoLive’ URGE Project, spearheaded by the Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters’ Association.

New projects are added every day to the ‘International Competitiveness Development (UR-GE) Projects,’ which are 75 percent supported by the Ministry of Trade and enable exporting companies to cluster together, increase their competence, and increase their exports through joint marketing.
The Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters’ Association, which brings together olive and olive oil exporters in Turkey, has decided to launch the ‘OlivetoLive’ UR-GE project to increase the expertise, exports and competitiveness of the olive and olive oil sector.
The Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters’ Association has invited olive and olive oil exporting companies to participate in the URGE Project.

Education and marketing activities to be prioritised…
Emre Uygun, Chair of the Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters’ Association, stated that they have planne to run the UR-GE Project named ‘OlivetoLive’ for three years. “We aim to benefit from activities deemed appropriate by the Ministry, including education and/or consultancy activities to be determined based on the results of the needs analysis to be conducted at the start of the project, as well as overseas marketing and purchasing delegation activities, including trade fair visits and participation in overseas marketing activities in the form of trade fair stands,” Uygun said.
Pointing out that the Turkish olive oil sector is going through a difficult period, Uygun explained, “In the last three years, the wrong decisions taken regarding our olive oil sector and the disinflation process in the country have caused our olive oil sector to lose its competitiveness. We entered the 2025/26 season in November. In the first month, our olive oil exports fell by 80 percent, from 8,636 tonnes to 1,701 tonnes. In other words, our exports have come to a standstill. There will certainly be a spring after this winter. We want to work together as a sector to heal our wounds in preparation for that time.”
Companies wishing to participate in the “OlivetoLive UR -GE Project” planned for the olive and olive oil sector, are expected to contact the Agriculture 1 Branch of the Aegean Exporters’ Associations by the end of working hours on Thursday, 15 January 2026, and submit their application forms…
