Press release…
The TURQUALITY Project named Turkish Tastes, which was implemented 6 years ago by the Aegean Exporters’ Associations (EIB) with the support of the Ministry of Trade in order to ramp up the export of Turkish food products to the United States of America, the world leader in food imports, organised a very magnificent tasting event.

‘The US is the biggest consumer of olive oil after the EU’
Emre Uygun, Chair of the Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters’ Association, stated that Türkiye has become the world’s first in table olive production and the world’s second in olive oil production thanks to the investments made in the olive sector in the last 25 years.
“The USA is the second largest consumer after the European Union with an annual olive oil consumption of 400 thousand tonnes and that the USA is the most important target market for the Turkish olive oil sector,” Uygun said.
Explaining that they have built a 360-degree connected cycle with the contributions of chefs who are brand ambassadors in the US market in order to turn Türkiye’s olive oil yield, which reached 475 thousand tonnes in the 2024/25 season, into added value, Uygun noted, “This cycle starts from our exporters and is completed with end consumers in the US. Through our brand ambassadors, our products bearing the Turkish Tastes brand will reach the distributors, and from the distributors to the restaurants within the scope of the programme we have initiated and which buy products from these distributors, and from there to the end consumers with menus prepared with the Turkish Tastes brand. By supporting the restaurants within the scope of the programme with influencers, the Turkish Tastes brand will grow day by day with a win-win model where everyone will win.”

Pointing out that for this reason, h would like to thank the chefs again, who bear the main burden, Uygun added, “We are one of the sectors that feel the effects of the project most clearly. Olive and olive oil exports to the USA, one of our most important target markets, soared by 8 percent in 2024 and reached a volume of 199 million dollars. We believe that we will share much more good news in the coming years with these studies.”
