The olive oil sector exported 70 thousand 750 tonnes of olive oil along with the difficulties in the 2023/24 season with restrictions and quotas, earning Türkiye 506 million 374 thousand dollars in foreign currency. In the 2023/24 season, pomace oil exports were recorded as 11 thousand 38 tonnes worth 48 million 59 thousand dollars too.
Leaving the table olive export season, which ended at the end of September, behind with 210 million dollars, the Turkish olive sector also left the 2023/24 season behind with a foreign exchange return of 765 million dollars.
Reminding that the Turkish olive sector exported 932 million dollars in the 2022/23 season, Emre Uygun, Chair of the Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters Association, stated that in the 2023/24 season, they experienced an 18 percent loss in exports due to olive oil compared to the 2022/23 season.
Sharing that the Turkish olive oil sector exported 54 thousand 405 tonnes of 54 thousand 405 tonnes of its 70 thousand 750 tonnes of exports in the 2023/24 season, Uygun said, “In fact, most of the packaged olive oil exports were made in large packages and replaced bulk olive oil exports. With the recent quotas and the lifting of restrictions, our bulk and barreled olive oil exports reached 100 million dollars.”
