Uludağ Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association (UYMSİB) held an evaluation meeting before the harvest and export season of Bursa Black Fig, one of the brand values of the province.
Uludağ Fruit and Vegetable Products Exporters’ Association (UMSMİB) Chairman Özkan Kamiloğlu, exporter company managers and sector representatives attended the ‘Bursa Black Fig Pre-Season Evaluation Meeting’ held at Uludağ Exporters’ Associations (UİB) under the chairmanship of UYMSİB Chairman Professor Dr. Senih Yazgan.
Speaking at the meeting where the demands and suggestions of the sector representatives were discussed, Dr. Senih Yazgan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of UYMSİB, emphasised the importance of protecting the brand value of black fig, which is world-renowned product of Bursa region.
Reminding that 17 thousand tonnes of Türkiye’s 19 thousand tonnes of black figs are produced in Bursa province, Dr. Yazgan said, “Our black figs are sent to all four corners of the world, they are consumed with pleasure in different geographies and the demand for this product is surging every year. Here, it is very important that the producers and exporters work in coordination and that all processes from the cultivation, collection and shipment of this sensitive product are carried out on time and meticulously.”
Dr. Yazgan wished the harvest and export to be auspicious and added, “We believe that the high yield we obtained last year, the exports we made and thus our contribution to our country’s economy will continue to increase this year. By expanding the market of our black figs in the world, we are carrying out the necessary work together for the further spread and protection of this flavour and its reputation.”
