Mango harvesting has started in Alanya district of Antalya, which has become Türkiye’s tropical fruit production base.
Due to its favourable climate, mango production is increasing every year in Alanya, which is one of the places where tropical fruit growing is carried out the most. The production area of mango, which consumers start to prefer because it is better than imported mangoes with its flavour and aroma, continues to boost every year. The harvest of mango, which is produced in an area of approximately 2 thousand decares in the district, has started.
Tahir Göktepe, Head of the Alanya Chamber of Agriculture, said that the production of mango in Alanya is gradually soaring by providing adaptation.
“We ask our consumers to support domestic production”
Stating that the mango season has opened, Tahir Göktepe wished the producers good luck and said, ‘The harvest of Naomi mango fruit has started in our district. We constantly inform our producers about harvesting. They know the harvest period and comply with it. Of course, there are also mango fruits imported from abroad. We want our consumers to be sensitive about this issue and support domestic production. Because we produce in difficult conditions.”
Highlighting that locally produced mango fruits have a distinctive feature in terms of taste and flavour, Göktepe added, “Our citizens who consume domestic production mango will realise this. For this reason, I ask them not to buy imported products in raw form even if they see them in the market places.”
