Celal Kadooğlu: Türkiye’s exports to Syria reached 2.6 billion dollars in 2025

Press release…

According to records from the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM), Türkiye’s exports to Syria rose to 2.6 billion dollars in 2025, a 69.6 percent spike over the previous year. Increased commercial contacts throughout the year, continuous dialogue mechanisms established in the field and the structure of exporters that can quickly adapt to changing conditions played a decisive role in this spike.

Celal Kadooğlu, Chairman of the TİM Syria Desk and the Southeast Anatolia Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds and Products Exporters’ Association, emphasised that the picture emerging was not the result of isolated developments but rather of systematic work carried out with determination throughout the year.

“2025 was a year in which Türkiye-Syria trade relations were placed on a more predictable, more institutional and more sustainable footing. Throughout the year, we addressed the needs communicated to us by exporters from the field in real time with public authorities; we kept the reflex of contact, solution and result generation constantly alive. The export level of 2.6 billion dollars we achieved is a concrete outcome of this approach,” he said.

When evaluating the 2025 data on trade with Syria, Celal Kadooğlu, Chairman of the TİM Syria Desk, pointed out that the spike in exports was driven not only by short-term commercial activity but also by the deepening of relations and the foundation of trust created by investments.

Highlighting that as investments increase in the region, mutual trust and predictability strengthen; this directly reflects on both the volume and quality of commercial relations, he added, “Investment is not a consequence that follows trade; it is the fundamental element that ensures trade becomes permanent. The developing contacts with Syria throughout 2025 clearly demonstrated that this relationship has evolved into a more institutional structure.”
