Birol Celep: Turkish food exporters will launch a new TURQUALITY Project for Japan

Press release…

Turkish food exporters, who set an export target of 1 billion dollars to Japan, returned home from the Foodex Japan Fair held in Tokyo between 5-8 March 2024 with commercial connections that will reach the export target of 1 billion dollars.

Reminding that the promotional activities of the Turkish food sector in the Japanese market go back many years, Birol Celep, Member of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly TIM), stated that they have signed a TURQUALITY Project in the Japanese market in the past years and that they have decided to launch a new TURQUALITY Project for Japan in the coming period.

Celep said that Japan met with 3 percent inflation per year after the FED’s interest rate policy after about 30 years of negative inflation and that they observed that 3 percent inflation negatively affected the living standards of the Japanese people.

“The depreciation of the Japanese yen against the US dollar has reduced the purchasing power of the Japanese. In this process, the Japanese want to direct their food imports from the United States and China to Türkiye. For Turkish food exporters, exporting to Japan is a prestige. Our young exporters should act accordingly. We are looking for a market to sell high quality, value-added and sustainability orientated products. Japan is a very suitable market for this,” he noted.

“Tokyo is a location with many Michelin-listed restaurants around the world, where quality food products are consumed. They want to get quality products for the money they pay. Our duty is to respond to these demands,” he added…
