Aegean Cereals, Pulses, Oil Seeds and Products Exporters’ Association and Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Association participated in the Summer Fancy Food Show Fair held in New York on 23-25 June 2024 and presented Turkish food products to the taste of Americans.
Under the national participation of the Aegean Exporters’ Associations (EIB), 37 stands were opened, including 35 exporter companies and two exporter associations.
Bedri Girit, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Association, said that they exhibited sea bass, sea bream and cheese varieties known in the US market and Turkish salmon, which is one of Türkiye’s star products in exports in recent years.
“In 2023, Türkiye’s exports of fisheries and animal products to the USA surged by 18 percent from 105 million dollars to 123 million dollars. As the Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Association, we have single-handedly realised 64 percent of the country’s fisheries and animal products exports to the USA by making a large slice of 79 million dollars of this export,” Girit said.
Pointing out that as the fisheries and animal products sector, they want to ramp up their exports to the USA to 250 million dollars in the medium term, Girit added, “In the products we export, fish is by far the leader with 76 million dollars, while our dairy products exports are 17 million dollars, natural honey exports are 12.5 million dollars and egg exports are 3 million dollars.”
