It is Türkiye’s favourite dessert with sherbet!
According to the research on dessert consumption, which increases significantly during Ramadan, the most popular dessert with sherbet is baklava… While the participants stated that they would most like to eat the dessert to be made by the chef Arda Türkmen, followed by the chef Ömür Akkor, Demet Akbağ ranked first with 26 percent among the famous names that Türkiye would like to eat baklava with.
Areda Piar conducted the Sherbet Desserts Survey with the participation of 784 people across Turkey between 14-17 March 2025.
Dessert consumption surges during Ramadan…
According to the research, dessert consumption surges significantly during Ramadan. While 45.5 percent of the participants stated that they consume more sherbet desserts during this period, 43.4 percent stated that their consumption habits did not change. Only 11.1 percent of the respondents stated that their dessert consumption decreased.
According to the research, 66.3 percent of the respondents buy sherbet desserts from patisseries or dessert shops, while 28.5 percent prefer to make their own desserts at home. While the rate of those who consume it when they go to restaurants and cafes is 3.5 percent, the rate of those who buy pre-packaged desserts from supermarkets is 1.7 percent.
Türkiye’s most popular dessert with sherbet is baklava!
According to the survey, baklava ranked first among sherbet desserts with 64.1 percent. While künefe ranked second, kadayıf ranked third. Katmer, bread kadayıf, tulumba, şekerpare, kalburabastı, revani, Kemalpaşa and shambali are the favourite desserts.
Among the types of baklava, pistachio baklava stands out as the most popular type, walnut baklava ranks second, pistachio wrap third and cold baklava ranks fourth. The others are, carrot slice, şöbiyet, mussel baklava, nuriye with milk, saray wrap with pistachio, dry baklava, burma with walnut and finally baklava with hazelnut…
