Celal Kadooğlu: Southeastern Anatolia’s 2-month cereal exports reached 588.1 million dollars

The exports of the cereals, pulses, oilseeds and products sector of the Southeastern Anatolia region surged by 5.6 percent in the first 2 months of the year and reached 588.1 million dollars.

The sector, which realised 30.3 percent of total exports in Southeastern Anatolia, also maintained its export leadership in the region. While the average export prices per kg surged by 1.8 percent to 0.78 dollars, the highest price hike was in sunflower oil with 24.4 per cent. Pasta exports generated USD 95 million, sunflower oil exports generated USD 94.7 million and wheat flour exports generated USD 67 million.

While the share of Middle Eastern countries in total exports was 50.2 percent, the share of African countries, where exports soared by 46.7 percent in this period, reached to 29.7 percent.

Celal Kadooğlu, Chair of the Southeastern Anatolia Cereals, Pulses, Oil Seeds and Products Exporters’ Association, highlighted that Iraq, which ranked first among the countries with the highest exports with 192.9 million dollars.

“It was followed by Syria with an increase of 44.7 percent and exports of 61.1 million dollars. In addition to wheat flour, biscuits and cakes stood out in exports to Iraq, while wheat flour came first in exports to Syria,” he added…
