AN INTERNATIONAL COTTON FESTIVAL TO BE ORGANIZED IN ŞANLIURFA…

An international cotton festival will be organized in Şanlıurfa…
Advisory board meeting was held for the cotton festival planned to be organized in Akçakale county of Şanlıurfa province.

Deputy Governor Ufuk Akıl chaired the meeting and exchanged information about the planned festival.

Akıl, after the meeting, said that they made preparations regarding international level of the organization.

Stating that he believes the festival will contribute to the promotion of the city, Akıl noted that the festival will be held during the harvest period of next year and that the relevant people will be invited to the organization in important cotton producing countries such as China, India and Uzbekistan.

Akçakale Mayor Mehmet Yalçınkaya also said it is quite important that the economic benefits of cotton and added, “Turkey can not have rich oil resources, but gave God Almighty nearly two important oil wells in our country. One of them Euphrates, the other the Tigris River. If we can use the highly enough of these two water sources, we can yield in Southeastern Anatolia Region 5 million tons of cotton.”

The meeting ended after the authorities expressed their views.

Dr. Osman Çopur, Chairman of Şanlıurfa Chamber of Agriculture Ahmet Eyüpoğlu, Deputy Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Halil Şitil, Deputy Director of GAP (Southeastern Anatolia Develoment Project) Agricultural Research Institute Haluk Rastgeldi, Coordinator of Karacadağ Development Agency Yunus Çolak and Şanlıurfa Tourism Inc. Manager Mehmet Uncu also attended.
