Ali Yıldız: We plan promotional activities to boost consumption habits of olive and olive oil

Ali Yıldız, Chairman of the Marmara Olive Agricultural Sales Cooperatives Union, emphasised the importance of olive oil for health and announced that they would be promoting small-packaged products and running promotional campaigns to boost consumption habits. He also drew attention to the impact of European Union funds on olive oil exports.

Ali Yıldız, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Marmara Olive Agricultural Sales Cooperatives Union (Marmarabirlik), drew attention to the importance of olive oil for human health and stated that they plan promotional activities such as offering single-use olives and olive oil alongside other products, as well as producing small packages in line with global trends, in order to increase consumption habits.

Yıldız told an AA correspondent that when people hear ‘Marmarabirlik,’ the first thing that comes to mind is table black olives, and that the union is one of Türkiye’s most important brands in this field.

Yıldız stated that Marmarabirlik has also done excellent work in the field of olive oil, explaining that olive oil has restorative properties for the human body due to the substances it contains.

Yıldız recommended that citizens consume olive oil, saying, “We recommend that people consume olive oil from reliable brands and avoid counterfeit products. Olive oil is a medicine. Olive oil is practically a cure. Our work on olive oil continues to grow in the facilities we are building in the districts.”

Stating that Marmarabirlik has set its sights even higher in terms of olive oil, Yıldız said:

“There is a fund that the European Union deducts approximately 1.2 euros from olive oil exports from Türkiye. This fund significantly reduces the competitiveness of many companies in Türkiye and cooperative unions like ours in Europe. The Ministry of Trade is working on this issue. If the fund applied by the European Union to Türkiye is lifted, our strength in Europe will gradually increase and we are fully confident that Turkish olive oil will be more prevalent on European market shelves and tables.”
