Antalya Organized Industrial Zone Chairperson Ali Bahar stated that Türkşeker (Turkiye Sugar Factories Inc.) which could not meet the demand of the food industry because of delivering sugar it produced to the markets, indicated the address to the privatized sugar factories.

Ali Bahar said, “Sugar is 70 percent more expensive in the private sector. A strategically important product like sugar cannot be left to the mercy of the private sector.”
The manufacturing industry, especially large-scale food-producing factories, began to have problems in supplying sugar.
While Turkiye Sugar Factories Inc. (Türkşeker) evaluates its production in small packages in retail and offers it to the citizens through markets, it addressed the sugar factories that were privatized in 2018 to the high sugar demands from the sector.
Antalya Organized Industrial Zone Chairperson Ali Bahar emphsized that as of 2022, industrialists started to have problems in sugar supply and underlined that some facilities producing in the region have entered a period when they will have to stop or reduce their production because they cannot supply sugar.
