Veysel Memiş, Chairman of the Board of the Mediterranean Cereals, Pulses, Oil Seeds and Products Exporters’ Association (AHBİB), announced that they achieved exports worth 1.36 billion dollars during the January–September period, marking a 2 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

Pointing out the intensifying competition in global food trade, AHBİB Chairman Veysel Memiş emphasized that they overcame the contraction in traditional markets by utilizing alternative routes and that this performance clearly demonstrates the sector’s production and foreign trade capacity.
“Türkiye’s agricultural production power, wide product range, high processing capacity and strategic geographical location offer us significant advantages in food exports. As AHBİB, we continue our efforts uninterruptedly to transform these advantages into higher added value, new markets and sustainable export growth,” he said.
Touching upon the performance by product group over the last nine months, Veysel Memiş noted that the highest export values were achieved in pulses, bakery products and vegetable oils.
Highlighting that pulses retained the top spot by accounting for 25 percent of the Association’s total exports, Memiş added: “In the January–September period, we ramped up our pulse exports by 16 percent, reaching 323.2 million dollars. The spike in terms of volume was 31 percent. Red lentils, in particular, played a decisive role within our pulse product group. Our red lentil exports reached 226.3 million dollars, marking a 23 percent spike in value. In terms of volume, we achieved 45 percent growth. This product alone accounted for 17 percent of our Association’s total exports. The resulting picture clearly demonstrates the strong momentum in our pulse exports.”
