The Adana, Hatay and Mersin Provinces Fishery Producers’ Association, established with the aim of bringing together the fishery sector in the Eastern Mediterranean under a single umbrella, has commenced operations with 18 members. Ali Can Yamanyılmaz, a member of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly (TİM) and Vice-President of the Mediterranean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Association (ASHİB), assumed the role of Founding President of the Association.

“Current production capacity of 10,581 tonnes marks the beginning of growth”
Chairman Ali Can Yamanyılmaz stated, “Our Association’s current production capacity of 10,581 tonnes demonstrates the immense potential of the Eastern Mediterranean in aquaculture. We possess a significant production infrastructure, with a capacity of 1,831 tonnes in inland waters and 8,750 tonnes in marine environments. However, we view this capacity merely as a starting point.”
“The fact that we have 86 producers holding aquaculture licenses across Adana, Hatay and Mersin reflects the formation of a strong producer base in the region. We believe the number of producers joining our Union will increase in the coming period, as our goal is not simply to unite more producers under one roof, but to transform aquaculture in the Eastern Mediterranean into a source of greater economic value. Since our inception, we have established ourselves as the third-largest union in our sector in Türkiye. This is a significant beginning for us. Our ultimate objective is to become the strongest union in our field in the country through our expanding producer base and new investments,” Yamanyılmaz said.
