The Adana, Hatay and Mersin Provinces Fishery Producers’ Association, established with the aim of bringing together the fishery sector in the Eastern Mediterranean under a single umbrella, has commenced operations with 18 members. Ali Can Yamanyılmaz, a member of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly (TİM) and Vice-President of the Mediterranean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Association (ASHİB), assumed the role of Founding President of the Association.
The inaugural general assembly of the Adana, Hatay and Mersin Provinces Fishery Producers’ Association was held in the meeting hall of the Adana Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry. The general assembly was attended by the founding committee, Dr. Hüseyin Akbaş, Deputy Director General for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Tanju Özdemir, Head of the Aquaculture Department, and Atilla Bayazıt, Director of the Adana Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry.
During the general assembly, the Association’s constitution, the interim executive committee’s activity report and other agenda items were discussed and resolved. Following the evaluation of the agenda items, the Executive Committee of the Adana, Hatay and Mersin Provinces Fishery Producers’ Association was appointed. Ali Can Yamanyılmaz, who has distinguished himself through his work in the aquaculture sector, assumed the role of Founding President of the Association. Halim Kılınçlı, Sıtkı Akgöl, Mehmet Pars Sezer and Abbay Polat were appointed to the Executive Board. The aim of this new structure is to bring together producers operating in Adana, Hatay and Mersin under a common representative body, to convey the sector’s issues more effectively to the relevant authorities and to increase regional production capacity…
