HAZELNUT EXPORT VALUE CONTINUES TO SURGE:
1.2 BILLION DOLLARS IN THE FIRST 5 MONTHS, TRABZON LEADS
In the January-May period of 2026, 87,000 tonnes of hazelnuts were exported from Türkiye, generating 1 billion 199 million 57 thousand dollars in foreign exchange. Compared to the same period of the previous year, there was a 31 percent decrease in quantity but a 16 percent spike in value.
In the first five months of the year, exports were made to 105 different countries, with the top 5 export destinations being Germany, Italy, France, Poland and Brazil.
In the first nine months of the hazelnut export season, which began in September, 150,698 tonnes of hazelnuts were exported, generating 1 billion 983 million 183 thousand dollars in foreign exchange. Compared to the same period of the previous year, there was a 42 percent decrease in quantity and a 6 percent decrease in value.
When evaluating hazelnut exports from Trabzon province, in the first five months of 2026, 27,180 tonnes of hazelnuts were exported from Trabzon, generating 437,596,000 dollars in foreign exchange earnings. Compared to the same period of the previous year, while the export volume decreased by 31 percent, the value increased by 26 percent; 36.5 percent of the country’s hazelnut exports during the January-May period originated from Trabzon region, which ranks first in hazelnut exports.
In the first nine months of the hazelnut export season, 35,335 tonnes of hazelnuts were exported from Trabzon province, generating 536,299,000 dollars, representing a 54 percent decrease in volume and a 21 percent decrease in value compared to the same period of the previous season…
