Emre Uygun: We are thriving to boost our olive and olive oil exports to Canada

Press release…

The Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters’ Association (EZZIB) organized a trade delegation to Toronto, one of Canada’s largest trade and cultural centers, from September 8-13, 2025. Sixteen export companies participated in the delegation. Turkish exporters held 190 bilateral business meetings with Canadian importers.

Emre Uygun, Chair of the Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters’ Association, described Canada as a market where health-oriented consumption habits are prevalent, stating that they are seeing strong demand for high-quality, natural products.

They consume 50,000 tonnes of olive oil and 30,000 tonnes of table olives…

Underlining that olive oil consumption in Canada is increasing annually, Uygun said, “Canada is an import-based market for olives and olive oil. Annual imports total 50,000 tonnes of olive oil and 30,000 tonnes of table olives. Although Türkiye has significant olive and olive oil potential, export figures in the Canadian market are not yet at the desired levels. Through this delegation, we aimed to enable our companies operating in the olive and olive oil sector to establish direct contact with Canadian importers, distributors, chefs and retail chains, to promote our products and to develop commercial collaborations.”
