Emre Uygun, Chair of the Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters Association, stated that Mediterranean-style eating has become a trend in the United States in recent years.

“Olive oil, an indispensable element of Mediterranean cuisine, was first produced on an industrial scale in Izmir,” he said.

Pointing out that Türkiye is the world’s largest producer of table olives and the second largest producer of olive oil, he noted, “Only in our country is there a separate culinary culture dedicated to olive oil dishes. This unique tradition ensures that healthy recipes dating back thousands of years are preserved and passed down from generation to generation. The promotional activities carried out by our country to increase olive and olive oil exports to the United States highlight not only the high quality of our products but also their deep cultural heritage.”

“According to the latest data, Türkiye’s olive and olive oil exports to the United States have reached 163 million dollars. This increase is a clear indication of the growing appreciation among international consumers for the quality, variety and authenticity of Turkish olives and olive oil. With its strong position in the global market and products aligned with healthy eating trends, Türkiye is ready to further solidify its success in the American market,” he added…
