ALI KAVAK TAKES PART IN TIM BOARD AS THE REPRESENTATIVE OF MEDITERRANEAN EXPORTERS…

As the representative of Mediterranean exporters, Ali Kavak, Chairman of the Sector Board of Turkish Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Associations, took part in the Board of Directors of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM), which is the sole umbrella organization of 61 exporters’ unions, 27 sectors and more than 100 thousand exporters across Turkiye.

Ali Kavak, who is among the 15 names who will serve on the Board of Directors together with Mustafa Gültepe, who was elected TIM Chairman at the general assembly held on June 13, said, “We are trying to raise our country’s exports to higher levels by finding solutions to the problems of all sectors, especially our fresh fruit and vegetable exporters. we will try. I would like to thank our President, Mustafa Gültepe, who deemed me worthy of this duty and I am very happy and honoured to take part in the TIM Board of Directors.”

“Increases in fresh fruit and vegetable prices have nothing to do with exports”

TIM Board Member Ali Kavak stated that the export income of the Turkish fresh fruit and vegetable sector, which has reached an export volume of 3.5 billion dollars, is the net foreign currency input to Turkiye.

Indicating that approximately 8-9 percent of the 57 million tonnes of annual production of the fresh fruit and vegetable sector, which is of strategic importance for the country’s economy, is exported, Ali Kavak noted that the claims that the export of fresh fruits and vegetables escalate inflation are untrue.

“We regret the statements that the price increases in fresh fruit and vegetable products are the source of exports. The reason for the price hikes in agricultural products is the rise in production input costs,” Kavak added…
