The Chairperson of the Turkish Beekeepers’ Association (TAB) warned: Without bees, agriculture will collapse
Ziya Şahin, Chairperson of the Turkish Beekeepers’ Association, stated that after the global climate change and forest fires, the living spaces of bees have narrowed and without bees, agriculture and biodiversity will disappear.
Saying that honey production has decreased due to forest fires and global climate change, Turkish Beekeepers’ Association (TAB) Chaiperson Ziya Şahin said, “The biggest supporter of the biosystem is bees. If the bees do not survive, agriculture will collapse, our biological wealth will collapse too.”
Şahin also stated that they have been conducting regional studies in Turkey and explained, “Due to the global climate change since June, a survey was conducted in many different parts of Anatolia with our teammates and lecturers. Unfortunately it shows that honey production will be very low in Anatolia.”
Şahin added that honey production decreased by 40 percent due to forest fires and global climate changes.
