Here are the two main elements of production planning in agriculture!
Stating that they aim to start production planning in 2024, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı said, “Grains and oilseeds will be our main elements in production planning. We also plan to include products that are of special importance for the society in terms of consumption in the production planning.” Yumaklı also stated that the work on the reorganisation of agricultural subsidies has also come to an end.
Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı made evaluations regarding the developments in the agricultural sector in 2023 and the expectations for 2024.
Production planning, contract agriculture, agricultural census…
Pointing out that they have taken very important steps this year in order to plan the future of agriculture, Yumaklı said that the regulations made are the ones that need to be made for the issues affecting agriculture in the world, especially climate change.
Pointing out that one of the most important issues of this year was production planning, Minister Yumaklı explained, “We went through a process that centred on water and evaluated many factors under production planning. With the amendment of the law, we started the process of production planning in the next period, taking into account the issues we call ‘new normals’. We have also made arrangements regarding contract farming, which is one of the main topics of production planning.”
Emphasing that they have initiated the process for the agricultural census and that they plan to complete the studies by the end of 2026, Yumaklı underlined that the National Water Board was established this year and noted that they will put forward a national management style regarding water.
“Agricultural supports need to be guiding”
Indicating that the work on the reorganisation of agricultural supports has also come to an end, Minister Yumaklı added, “By the end of this year, we will have given approximately 64 billion liras of support to our farmers.” im
Drawing attention to the steps they plan to take next year in the agricultural sector, Yumaklı concluded, “We aim to implement the production planning, which we started to create the infrastructure this year, in 2024. A very intensive training process continues in this regard. It is difficult to start this process in a country with a wide range of production. The grains and oilseeds group will be our main elements in production planning. We also plan to include products that are of special importance for the society in terms of consumption in the production planning.”
