The agricultural reserve – previously the crisis reserve – was triggered last year for the first time ever to support EU farmers after the invasion of Ukraine – and could be used again this year, according to the European Commission.
In place since 2013, this tool accounts for close to half a billion euros under the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and it is meant to support farmers in exceptional times.
