Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli said, “We want to see more of our geographically indicated products in the EU market.”
Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli announced that they discussed many issues related to agriculture between Turkey and the EU during the bilateral meeting with Janusz Wojciechowski, the EU Commission Member in Charge of Agriculture, within the scope of the G20 Agriculture Ministers Meeting in Italy.
Providing information about the meeting, Minister Pakdemirli stated that there has been a cooperation with the EU on the mutual protection of geographically indicated products since 2019 and said, “We have 7 products registered and protected in the EU.”
“These are Gaziantep baklava, Aydın fig, Malatya apricot, Aydın chestnut, Milas olive oil, Bayramiç white and Taşköprü garlic. As Turkey, we would like to see more of our geographically indicated products in the EU market. There are applications for registration from both sides. We evaluated in our meeting that this project will further strengthen our future cooperation,” Pakdemirli added…
