Veysel Memiş, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mediterranean Cereals, Pulses, Oil Seeds and Products Exporters’ Association (AHBİB), announced that they exported 488.3 million dollars in the first quarter of 2025.

Emhasizing that as AHBİB, they exported to 162 countries between January and March 2025, Veysel Memiş said, “We reached the highest values in Iraq, Syria and Sudan markets and when the top 20 countries we exported the most are taken into account, in addition we achieved significant increases in Jordan, Sudan, Palestine, Russia and Saudi Arabia markets.”
“The new customs policy of the USA offers important opportunities“
Highlighting that they are carefully following the new customs policy of the USA, which imports 42.1 billion dollars in cereals, pulses, oilseeds and products annually and its reflections on global markets, Veysel Memiş noted, “The relative advantage given to Türkiye by this country in customs tariffs offers important opportunities.”
Stating that Türkiye exported 651.5 million dollars in cereals, pulses, oilseeds and products to the USA in 2024 and that this figure was 194 million dollars in the first quarter of 2025, Veysel Memiş added, “The Ministry of Trade’s potential agriculture and food matrix table for exports to the US market includes biscuits, food preparations, sugar and chocolate products, animal feed, vegetable oils and pulses product groups. In these products, we are looking for opportunities where we can gain competitive advantage against China, Canada, Mexico, Italy and Brazil, which are important suppliers of the USA and whose customs duties have been increased.”
