Veysel Memiş: We aim to achieve net carbon zero in all production processes by 2050

Tat Gıda Sanayi AŞ (Tat Food Industry Inc.) will establish a solar power plant (SPP) with a power of 2,316 kilowatt peak (kWp) in Manisa Yunusemre Akçaköy with an investment of 1.1 million dollars in line with its sustainability goals.

According to a statement released by the company, Tat Gıda plans to meet 19.49 percent of its annual energy consumption from renewable sources and reduce its carbon footprint by 1679 tonnes with this investment.

The company, which adopts sustainable agricultural practices and supports the development of the food ecosystem by making healthy and high quality production while reducing environmental impacts, has started the installation of SPP in order to obtain the electrical energy it needs from renewable sources.

In this context, Tat Gıda, which produces tomato paste, tomato products, sauces, ready meals and pickles, signed a contract with Solares to implement the power plant. The company, which started construction of the power plant on an area of 27 thousand 570 square metres, plans to complete and commission the facility in the first quarter of this year. With this investment, 3,800 megawatt hours (MWh) of electricity will be generated annually from solar energy.

Veysel Memiş, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tat Gıda Sanayi AŞ, stated that their sustainability targets are in line with the environmental policies determined on a global scale.

Memiş emphasised that they aim to reduce their carbon footprint by 55 percent by 2030 and stated that they aim to achieve net carbon zero in all production processes by 2050.
