“114 AHBIB members introduced their innovative products and established new trade connections at WorldFood Istanbul”

Indicating that AHBİB participated with 114 members in the International Food Products and Technologies Fair – WorldFood Istanbul, which is supported by the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly (TIM) Cereals, Pulses, Oil Seeds and Products Sector Board and all Exporters’ Associations within its body, between 3-6 September, Veysel Memiş noted that they are very happy and pleased to support the giant organisation that brings together food professionals from 161 countries.

“We convey our demands to the necessary authorities to start the competition at an equal level”

Pointing out that the International Food Products and Technologies Fair (WorldFood Istanbul), which provides the opportunity to exhibit and discover the latest innovations and food trends in the sector, brought together 1,117 participants from 161 countries, Memiş said, “Our 114 AHBIB member companies had the opportunity to introduce their innovative products and establish new trade connections. The Presidential Session I attended at this fair: The Food Sector at the Heart of Exports and the 2025 Road Map, I evaluated the issue of equal competition in the international arena, because we start the match 1-0 behind due to the taxes imposed on us by the countries we export to. We have this problem because many countries work within the framework of free trade agreements or Customs Union agreements. We are conveying our demands to the necessary authorities in order to start the competition at an equal level and we hope that there will be positive developments in the coming period.”

“In August, we achieved the highest values in Iraq, Egypt and Sudan markets”

Evaluating AHBİB’s exports in August according to product groups and countries, Memiş explained, “In August, we evaluated 188 thousand 575 tonnes of products in international markets. Pulses, pastry products, sugar and sugar products constituted the first three places in the list of product groups that we exported the most in this period. We exported 55.5 million dollars in pulses, 30.2 million dollars in pastry products and 19.8 million dollars in sugar and sugar products. Our Association, which exported to 142 countries and regions in the said period, achieved the highest values in Iraq, Egypt and Sudan markets. We exported 30.3 million dollars to Iraq, 11.4 million dollars to Egypt and 10 million dollars to Sudan.”

“These countries were followed by Syria, Italy and Germany. We achieved the strongest increases in export volume in the markets of Palestine, Cameroon, Indonesia, South Korea, Djibouti, Togo, Ireland, Dominican Republic and Nepal. We achieved a spike of more than 11 times in these countries,” Memiş added…
