Antalya’s greenhouses and auctions, which account for the majority of cut flower production, are bustling with Valentine’s Day activity. Flowers, mainly red carnations, are being picked from greenhouses, packaged and prepared for lovers. Flowers destined for overseas markets have been loaded onto lorries and are on their way, while preparations for the domestic market continue.
İsmail Yılmaz told an Anatolian Agency (AA) correspondent that Valentine’s Day is important for the sector.

Undrerlining that they are experiencing a busy period, he said, “Our flower shipments for Valentine’s Day on 14 February are continuing. We will have exports exceeding 10 million dollars. Red colours are prominent during this period, and there is intense interest in all red flowers. I estimate that our shipments will continue until 7-8 February. If there is demand after 8 February, we will ship by air cargo.”
Highlighting that they are sending the most flowers to European countries during this period, he noted, “We are sending products to almost all of Europe. We will ship to over 30 countries. It’s not just Europe; we also have shipments to other countries.”
