Turkish Flour Industrialists’ Federation (TUSAF) President Eren Günhan Ulusoy stated that he believes the pasta industry will exceed the 1 billion dollar threshold in exports within two years.
Eren Günhan Ulusoy, President of the Turkish Flour Industrialists’ Federation (TUSAF), said that the pasta industry in Turkey develops itself more and more each year.
Pointing out that the pasta industry has been the shining star and favourite of recent years in the export of grain products, Ulusoy said, “The success of Turkish industrialists is admirable in this sense.”
Emphasizing that Italy’s past in the pasta industry dates back hundreds of years and that Turkey is an exporter country for 15 years and explained, “Turkey’s advantage is the distribution of wheat to the world from this geography. The durum wheat grown in Turkey is one of the best quality durum wheats in the world. Our geography, soil and climatic conditions allow durum wheat to be produced. The pasta industry used this advantage in its target market.”
Ulusoy underlined that the pasta industry has achieved a significant increase in exports in the last three years and added, “In the last 3 years, our pasta export has increased from 400 million dollars to 762 million dollars. 1.4 million tonnes of exports have been made. I believe that the sector will exceed the 1 billion dollars threshold in two years. Turkey is the second largest pasta exporter in the world after Italy.”
“However, Turkish pasta is not a brand like Italy in the world yet. Field dominance creates an opportunity to become a brand in the markets. I think that Turkish pasta will be pronounced like Italian pasta in the world in a 10-year period and it will become a brand. As a matter of fact, Turkish pasta is distinguished from others in terms of taste and is highly appreciated, No dooubt that this situation provides an advantage to the exporter,” Ulusoy concluded…
