Türkiye’s fresh fruit and vegetable exports surpass 319 million dollars in February…

Ferhat Gürüz, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mediterranean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Association, announced that Türkiye exported 319.3 million dollars worth of fresh fruit and vegetables in February with an increase of 4 percent compared to the same period last year.

Stating that they exported the most to Russia, Iraq and Romania in the second month of the year, Ferhat Gürüz also reported that they achieved the strongest acceleration in export volume in Iraq, Azerbaijan and the Netherlands markets in this period.

Emphasising that the Mediterranean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association, which is the leader of fresh fruit and vegetable exports, supported the country-wide sector exports by 49 percent with a value of 155.2 million dollars in February, Gürüz said, “We marketed our products at higher prices in the international market.”

Noting that although there was a 16 percent decrease in the amount of fresh fruit and vegetable exports in February, Gürüz added, “We achieved an increase in value and that this data revealed that the unit prices of the products surged, especially lemon, tangerine, strawberry and pomegranate were marketed at higher prices in the international market. Furthermore, potatoes, quince, cucumber, lemon and cauliflower were among the products that were in high demand in the said period.”
