Tea exports from Turkiye to 97 countries in the first half of the year soared by 19 percent and reached 12.2 million dollars. Belgium, the United Kingdom and Germany were the three countries with the highest exports.
The interest in Turkish tea in Europe was also reflected in the export figures. In the January-June period of the year, tea was exported from Turkiye to 97 countries, primarily the European continent.
According to the data compiled from the Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association (DKİB), 3 thousand 652 tonnes of tea were exported to 97 countries from the country in the first half of the year. A revenue of 12 million 234 thousand 737 dollars was obtained from the said exports.
Accordingly, exports in the first 6 months of 2022 rose by 41 percent in quantity and 19 percent in value, compared to the same period of the previous year, which earned 10 million 277 thousand 186 dollars in return for 2 thousand 585 tonnes of tea.
Belgium, the United Kingdom and Germany were the three countries with the highest exports.
“OUR EXPORTS WILL REACH HIGHER NUMBERS IN THE FOLLOWING PERIOD”
Ahmet Hamdi Gürdoğan, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of DKİB, said that tea exports completed the first half of 2022 with an increase rate above expectations. He also added that they predicted that they would close the year with the same high rate of increase.
