Americans are impressed by Turkish sea bass!
The seafood sector, one of Türkiye’s star export industries, has achieved significant success in the United States over the past decade.
Türkiye, which exported 23 million dollars worth of seafood to the US in 2015, ramped up its exports by 313 percent to 95 million dollars by the end of 2025. The overall spike in the country’s seafood exports over the last 10 years was 224 percent.
Sea bass accounted for 72 percent of total exports…
Americans showed the most interest in Turkish sea bass. Sea bass accounted for 72 percent of Türkiye’s total fishery exports to the US, worth 68 million dollars. Sea bass was followed by sea bream and trout, with exports worth 8 million dollars.
Bedri Girit, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters Association, stated that the TURQUALITY Project, named Turkish Tastes, conducted intensive promotion at the New York Fancy Food Fair in the US market. “The final leg of these promotional activities was the Aquaculture America 2026 Fair, held in Nevada between 16 and 19 February 2026,” Girit said.
“In the meantime, 74 million dollars of the Türkiye’s 95.5 million dollars fishery exports to the US, came from the Aegean Region,” Girit added.
