The Aegean Exporters’ Associations (EİB) have set out to boost exports of Turkish food products to Japan, a country of 125 million people that imports 80 billion dollars worth of food products annually.

The Aegean Exporters’ Associations will organise Türkiye’s national participation at the 52nd Foodex Japan 2027 International Food and Beverage Fair, to be held at Tokyo Big Sight in Tokyo, Japan, from 9 to 12 March 2027.
Muhammet Öztürk, Coordinating Chairman of the Aegean Exporters’ Associations, who announced that the 52nd Foodex Japan Fair will be held in 2027, stated that for the past 30 years they have facilitated the participation of Turkish food exporters in the Japan Foodex Fair with the support of the Ministry of Trade.

Emphasising that Japan can meet only 40 percent of its own food requirements, Öztürk said, “Japan is a major market for food imports. They pay the utmost attention to food quality and safety. It is a market that is hard to please but becomes loyal once business begins. We invite our Turkish food exporters to secure their places at the Foodex Fair in Japan.”
Highlighting that the Foodex Fair also caters to the food markets of countries in the Far East and South-East Asia as well as Japan, Öztürk noted, “Our food exports to Japan have risen by 60 percent over the last five years, from 210 million dollars to 335 million dollars. Of every 100 dollars of exports from Türkiye to Japan, 52 dollars were accounted for by the Turkish food sector.”
Pointing out that the top export product was tuna, worth 80 million dollars, whilst pasta, olive oil, dried fruit, processed fruit and vegetable products, hazelnuts and tinned goods were among our leading export items, he added, “In 2026, 3,238 companies from 76 countries took part in the Foodex Fair, with visitor numbers reaching 74,000.”
